About This Work
I've always loved the phrase This Must Be the Place, for some reason it gives me a comforting and cosy feeling (and it’s also a classic Talking Heads song!). I don’t interpret it as being about ‘arriving’ or a final destination, it’s more the knowing that you're exactly where you're meant to be. In this triptych, there’s a vibration in the letters that gives a sense of anticipation and excitement, like the flutter you get when it all suddenly makes sense.
This phrase reminds me that we spend so much time searching for the right place, the right path or the right version of ourselves, that we can lose track of where we are right now. This place, this journey, this moment in time, this must be the place…
