Time Is Hardcore

My Mum often says that “time is elastic”, and this little series explores that concept. The work grew out of the experience of lockdown, when time would oscillate between puckering in to pass at an agonising glacial pace, and puff out like a helium balloon floating to the ceiling before we could catch the string.

These three small paintings respond to that warped sense of duration. Each one was made slowly and carefully, through repetition and focus. Ironically, while they took an intensive amount of time to complete, the process itself made the days feel lighter and faster.

The series reflects on time not as a fixed measurement, but as something more subjective — exact, relative, and constantly reshaping itself depending on context, perception and state of mind.
