What’s In A Name?

This series is a group of paintings that spell the names of some of my closest family members, using a custom lettering system I developed. Family has always been central to my life, and I very much struggled with the separation enforced during the pandemic. Painting the names of those closest to me and filling them with colour became a way of reducing that distance, and turned it into something tangible, something that was here with me now rather than completely absent.

The larger work in the series, 'Family', incorporates the names of my entire immediate family, layered into a single composition.
