What’s In A Name?

This series is a group of paintings that spell the names of some of my closest family members, using a custom lettering system I developed. Family has always been central to my life, and the separation enforced during the pandemic was deeply felt. Painting the names of those closest to me and filling them with colour became a way of compressing that distance, and turned it into something tangible, something present rather than absent.

The larger work in the series, 'Family', incorporates the names of my entire immediate family, layered into a single composition.
